JCI EC 2020 has now been cancelled

Dear JCI European Conference Participants,

Thank you for standing with us over the past several weeks. Your patience and understanding show that we have the best members in the world.

The past several months have been challenging for us all, and together we are learning to understand and adapt to these unprecedented circumstances introduced by COVID-19. With that being said, to protect the health of our JCI members and conference participants, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 JCI European Conference in Dublin, Ireland, originally planned from 27-30 May 2020.

The Executive Committee, the Dublin Conference Organizing Committee and JCI Headquarters have deliberated extensively on this situation, and this decision was made with a great deal of heartache. Our Conference Organizing Committee and host organization have put in an incredible amount of time and effort to create a remarkable event that would have given our members amazing cultural experiences, opportunities to meet new friends and wonderful programs that would have helped everyone gain new insight into being young leaders.

These are incredibly challenging times and the entire team struggled with this decision. We know how much this conference means to you all, and we share your disappointment that it can’t take place this year as intended. With so many events going virtual, we are considering what we can do online this year instead.

Despite the volatility surrounding us, we must reassure ourselves with the fact that we have the knowledge to overcome the many obstacles our world faces. JCI’s purpose of building the leadership skills and growing the potential of young professionals connects all of us, and has driven our organization for more than 100 years. That purpose remains untainted by any virus, and draws us closer as a global community, even though we may not physically be together. Where there is uncertainty, there is possibility, and we will discover new ways to support and empower each other, our communities and our businesses during this time.

You can view a comprehensive 2020 JCI European Conference FAQ here. Our aim is to answer any questions you may have in this FAQ, such as registration and accommodation refunds or the process for getting fees returned. As it is a long bank holiday weekend for JCI Ireland, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we take the time to address your questions personally.

Together, we will overcome this challenge, and look forward to seeing each other once again at the JCI World Congress in Yokohama, Japan this coming November.

Best wishes,

Marion de Groot, 2020 JCI Executive Vice President for Europe
Kevin Hin, JCI Secretary General
Ronan Neacy, 2020 National President, JCI Ireland

Derek Reilly, 2020 JCI European Conference Organizing Committee Director
